Do you think that it was like nowadays, when people are close to a stroke thinking you poisoned them because you lit a cigarette 2 miles away from them? It was normal, a part of life, we even had cigarettes in our military package, present from Uncle Sam and tobacco companies. We smoked to pass the time, because everybody smoked, because we wanted to look cool like Hollywood stars, because it was a good way to start a conversation with girls by offering them a light, because it was comforting in a time when we needed to get rid of fear and anxiety, and because…not a lot of people were telling us it was bad for our health! And you’ve got to understand Steve here: the guy never had functioning lungs until the serum so he wanted to try, be a part of something, for once. He’s human, give him a break. It only lasted for two weeks, though. He didn’t like the taste and how it felt on his throat, the smell on his clothes too. From what he told me he picked up smoking again after I…well, you know. The fall and all. Now he smokes cigars with Stark 2 maybe 3 times a year, a little guilty pleasure. It’s not as if he is risking anything anyway. The funniest thing is that he tries to convince Stark to quit, but as Tony loves to remind him “In the past 10 years, I was almost killed by half a dozen of alien invasions, a nuclear bomb, my dad’s ex-associate, my own freaking arc reactor, terrorists in Afghanistan, YOUR BOYFRIEND and you are talking about lung cancer?! A bad example for young people? PLEASE!! If Saint Sam of the Holy Falcon smoked, America would collapse, but me? I’m the bad boy of the bunch, I mean I bought the Trump Tower, painted it orange and put a giant toupee on top of the building, even when I knew I was gonna have to pay a BIG fine. Tssss!
